Attempted Murder
The client was facing attempted murder charges, along with a codefendant. Following extensive and dogged negotiations, Darran was able to resolve the case with just a violation, creating no criminal record for the client -- an incredible result.
Criminal Sexual Act in the 1st Degree
Darran's client was charged with a B felony and was facing up to 25 years in prison. After a lengthy and complex trial, Darran hung the jury, an almost-unprecedented result for this type of case.
Attempted Murder & Assault in the 1st
The client was charged with attempted murder, assault in the first degree, and possession of a firearm. Pushed to trial at the insistence of his client, Darran faced incredible odds and almost insurmountable case against the client. Ultimately, he was able to beat the two top counts, saving the client years behind bars.
ABOUT DARRAN
Darran Winslow is a Brooklyn-based attorney specializing in criminal defense. He has over two decades of experience practicing law and is admitted to the New York, Kentucky, and Ohio State Bars. He is currently the President of the Kings County Criminal Bar Association.
In addition to his criminal law practice, Darran also represents individuals and small business clients, helping them to navigate litigation and commercial matters.
Darran has a B.S. in Business Management from Washington and Lee University. He received his J.D. summa cum laude from Northern Kentucky University's Salmon P. Chase School of Law, where he served on the Law Review and the Moot Court Board.
After law school, Darran clerked for Senior Judge William O. Bertelsman, Federal District Judge for the Eastern District of Kentucky. He then went on to work for the prestigious Cincinnati-based law firm Graydon Head & Ritchey as an associate in their commercial litigation department. In 2003, he joined Lynch, Cox, Gilman & Goodman, P.S.C. in Louisville, Kentucky, where he developed his own practice, focusing on criminal defense and representation of independently-owned businesses.
In 2011, Darran moved to New York City. After working as a prosecutor in the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, Darran once again launched his own private practice, which has now been thriving for over a decade.
